About Haringey
Haringey is a fantastic place to live and work – the world in one borough. A place brimming with creativity, personality, radicalism, and community. It is a place where we stand up for each other. A place that is proudly distinctive. We’ll be celebrating all this and more as the “rebel borough” when we are the 2027 London Borough of Culture.
Our history champions change-makers and everyday rebels; revelling in our differences, battling discrimination, championing equality, and doing things our own way. Haringey’s people are a huge asset, with knowledge, expertise, and passion. Our staff members embody our organisational values: Caring, Creative, Courageous, Collaborative and Community-focused. These values keep us looking forward, ambitious for the future, and continuously striving to do our very best for all of our residents.
About the role
We are seeking a proactive and customer‑focused Income Management Officer to join our Home Ownership Service. In this role, you will be responsible for the effective recovery of leasehold service charge debt and other recharges, ensuring accuracy, compliance with legislation, and adherence to Council policy. You will handle disputes, queries, and complex cases relating to leasehold management, offering clear guidance to residents and internal teams. The post also includes preparing cases for legal action where needed, drafting formal correspondence, and supporting the wider Home Ownership Services to maintain service levels.
About the team
You will be part of a dedicated and collaborative Leasehold Services team working within Housing Services and Building Safety. The team supports thousands of leaseholders and works closely with colleagues across Legal, Finance, Resales & Compliance, and other specialist teams. Guided by experienced Senior Income Management Officers, the team takes pride in delivering a professional, resident‑centred service. We foster a positive, solution‑focused working culture where collaboration, flexibility, and high‑quality service are at the heart of everything we do.
About you
You will bring experience from a customer‑focused environment—ideally within leasehold or income recovery services—and a strong understanding of service charges, legislation, and good practice. Highly organised and self‑motivated, you can manage a varied caseload, meet challenging deadlines, and negotiate payment arrangements with sensitivity and fairness. Excellent communication skills, strong IT competency, and the ability to analyse problems logically are essential. You will be committed to equality, safeguarding, and delivering an excellent service, with the confidence to represent the Council professionally in both written and verbal communications.
Working for Haringey
At Haringey Council we are committed to creating a workplace culture where all our people feel valued, included, and able to be their best at work, and we recognise the benefits of a diverse workforce so welcome applications from all ethnicities and communities so that we continue to make a difference to our residents and community.
Our benefits package includes a leave entitlement up to 31 days + bank holidays, potential hybrid working opportunities, health and wellbeing support, a generous local government pension scheme and a range of discount schemes across leisure and culture that provide both financial and money-saving discounts.
